The founders of Industry-based jewelry and accessories boutique line Brighton Collectibles donated $7 million to Pasadena’s Huntington Hospital to help expand the medical center’s Heart and Vascular Center, hospital officials announced Wednesday.
“Terri and Jerry Kohl have been longtime supporters of Huntington Hospital,” Jane Haderlein, the hospital’s senior vice president of philanthropy and public relations, said in a statement. “Through their extraordinary generosity, we are able to provide the community with state-of-the-art cardiac facilities for generations to come.”
According to the hospital, three members of the Kohl family, including Jerry Kohl, have received cardiac treatment at Huntington.
“You hope you’re never going to need it,” Kohl said. “We live in this community and we want good care, so we think it’s important to do our share to help support that.”
Jerry and Terri Kohl met in elementary school in Monterey Park and began dating in high school. They began their boutique retail business while still in school. Brighton Collectibles now boasts 180 of its own stores, with its products sold in thousands of other retail outlets.
